24 March 2017 Bridgetown Barbados

24 March 2017: Bridgetown Barbados

Today i am lucky enough to be boarding the Atlantis Submarine and to explore the ocean from this man made machine!!We first boarded our bus and were taken to the area where we got onto a boat and then we were taken out to the diving site where we boarded the submarine in the ocean. We were taken to a depth of 130 feet in a very comfortable long looking room!! with large viewing windows.
When we arrived at the diving site the submarine was still under the water and was very interesting to watch it come up and when they opened the hatch.I was worried about other boats in the area and how do they know we are under water but they assured us their captain on top i another boat was in control.
We had a very nice crew that were witty and funny, full of jokes. The front of the submarine looks a lot like a planes cockpit with lot and lot of switches! and things, gadgets.
We were taken to an old shipwreck and saw 7 turtles which was beautiful, they swim so gracefully and we were lucky enough to see them. Also lots of fish and other sea life.On our way back they played the old song Yellow Submarine and everyone joined in singing which was great fun.
Then it was time to try out there Barbados Rum Punch ,was nice but also had a skop in it,the swell on our way back had picked up a bit so rough swell and rum can cause problems, the only good thing they will think it must be the swell!!!!! giving you an extra step, hee heee.
Back at the pier we had time to do a bit of shopping and i bought  liefie a Barbados dreadlock hat.Did not know how i was going to get him to pose for a photo, for as you know all to well he hates photos and kos mooi praat but got him to do a dr pose in his office,Barbados Doc!!!
Then after we had left a patient arrived and that kept him busy all night long so we had little sleep.
Tomorrow it is St Lucia West Indies.

25 Maart 2017: St Lucia West indies

26 March 2017: San Juan Puerto Rico
Arrived in this beautiful city after sailing in past the old city fort with its lovely views of the ocean. We had to go through immigration because it is a USA port so that took a while and we only got going after 14h00 so was late and so much to do and to see and not enough time!!!
I decide to go on a rainforest tour because i had been here before so we were taken up to the El Yunque rainforest were we went on a walk and viewed the Yokahu Lookout Tower and visited the Lacoca Waterfall.
Our tour guide was great and enjoyed all his remarks and info, told us a lot about the place, its culture, the food and history.
Just sorry we were docked in the new area and not near the old city for that is quite something and so beautiful and full of history.
The Island traffic and trek up the mountain took about an hour so by the time we got back it was nearly dark and decided was not going to venture into the old city all on my own ,so sadly could not get to the old San Juan this time, only the memories of our last visit.

Sailing out at 22h00 last night with amazing views of the city lights from deck 12 was beautiful and this time hubby could also enjoy it with me, so was very special.Wind in die hare!!!Well the next 2 days we are at sea and we plan to arrive in Miami on Wednesday morning and then it time to say goodbye  and flying home after this amazing South America trip. The Amazon and Rio were definitely highlights for me,so until next time, bye xxx
